The Kewanee Hog Days Festival and The Kewanee Voice are partnering up to bring area residents all the latest up-to-date news and information about the time-honored Kewanee event.

In March, the Hog Days Committee voted to team up with The Kewanee Voice, which had yet to launch its website. At the time, the Kewanee news site was in its initial planning stage and administered a Facebook page, but Larry Flannery, co-chair of the committee, told his fellow committee members that the purpose of Hog Days was to help and support the community.

The board voted unanimously to enter into an agreement, which included not only running ads on the Voice’s website, which officially launched on May 2, 2023, but also an event page on the site dedicated to all-things Hog Days.

After some thought, the Hog Days Festival Committee named the page, “The Hog Herald.” The page will run for three months from June until after the Labor Day event, and feature all of the articles, information and feature stories, including parade news that was once found in the Star Courier’s Hogsmopolitan. The page will also provide coverage of the live event.

The partnership will allow The Kewanee Voice to have exclusive coverage of feature stories, and provide readers with up-to-date information about musical performances, events, ticket sales and any new changes that could come.

Flannery said he and the committee are supportive of The Kewanee Voice’s efforts to deliver local news to the community.

“Obviously, it’s something very much needed and wanted and we are more than happy to do our part so that the community can have access to the local news it needs and deserves,” said Flannery.

Kewanee Hog Days will be held Sept. 1-4. For all of your Hog Days information, be sure to check back frequently on “The Hog Herald” exclusively on The Kewanee Voice.
