Hundreds of people lined the Kewanee Hog Days parade route Saturday, Sept. 2, as many attendees, no doubt, came to see the performance from the US Marine Corps Band.

But the throngs of folks weren’t limited to just the parade and many people turned out for the flea market, the carnival and concession and the pork barbeque. One Hog Days Committee member, who manned the pork chop drive-thru on Sunday, said that a steady stream of vehicles of all types, lined up for the famous barbeque sandwiches on Saturday, and that traffic paused only briefly during the parade.

The alley behind Cerno’s Bar and Grill was the place to be Saturday night as local band, High Jinx, performed. Concessions were kept busy with traffic up and down the midway, as hungry fair goers made sure to get a helping of their favorite carnival food.

The results of the Hog Days parade were issued on Saturday by the Kewanee Chamber of Commerce. The Ambassador Cup went to the State Bank of Toulon. The Sweepstakes Award went to the YMCA. The Commerical Award was given to Peoples National Bank, its third award in a row. And the Not-For-Profit Award went to Encounter Church, while the Most Original Award was given to Petersen Health Care.

Here are some photos of many of the events that happened over the weekend:
