This eagle was recently captured nestled in a tree on Prospect Street. The photo was taken by Caleb Mikenas.

Caleb Mikenas recently snapped this photo of a bald eagle perched majestically on a tree limb in the 200 block of East Prospect Street.

Eagle sightings are frequent in Kewanee and the large birds of prey can often be spotted near Windmont Park where they are most likely looking for a free lunch.

According to a travel website, the best time of the year to spot an eagle in Illinois is during the winter months. Illinois is the home of more wintering bald eagles than any other continental state.
