Human remains were found over the weekend in a rural area of Kewanee, but other than those details, a press release from the Henry County Sheriff’s Office offered the public little else about the discovery in the way of information.
An investigation was launched after the discovery on Sunday, March 10. Where the remains were located, the state of those remains and other elements are unlikely to be released until after the investigation is completed.
The press release did say that the discovery posed no danger to the public.
The Illinois State Police Crime Scene Services and the Kewanee Police Department are assisting with the investigation.
