Election Day isn’t until Nov. 5, but Illinois residents can go to the polls starting on Sept. 26.
That’s the day early voting starts, and people can vote-in person until the day before the election.
In Henry County, “the polls” means just one place, the county clerk’s office on the first floor of the Henry County Courthouse in Cambridge.
County Clerk Barb Link said early voting will be available in the county clerk’s office every day from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
The office will also be open for early voting from 8 a.m. to noon on three Saturdays: Oct. 19 and 26 and Nov. 2.

Those voting early will need to bring along a driver’s license or other form of ID showing that they live in Henry County.
Votes cast early will be delivered to the precincts where the voters live, and won’t be counted until after the polls close on Election Day.
Sept. 26 is also the first day the county clerk’s office can mail ballots to voters who have signed jp for absentee voting.
Other important dates:
Oct. 8 is the last day to register to vote or change address and be eligible to vote Nov. 5.
Oct. 9 is the first day for grace period voting. During this period an “qualified elector” may register to as long as they have lived in their precinct for at least 30 days, or submit a change of address.
Both of these things must be done at the county clerk’s office, and the voter must vote at the clerk’s office at that time.
Oct. 20 will be the last day to register to vote online through the State Board of Elections, and Oct. 31 is the last day for the clerk’s office to receive an application to vote by mail and mail a ballot.
