Primary voters will pick November candidates

Illinois voters will go to the primary election Tuesday to choose the candidates for November’s general election.

For Republicans, six candidates are running for four four-year terms in the Henry County Board from District 2, which includes Kewanee. They are David Tomsic, Chad L. Winter, Natalie Hendryx, Deborah Casteel, Kevin Brown and Marshall Jones. There are also two candidates for one two-year term on the board, Crystal Strode and Mike Rabas.

Republicans have four candidates to run against J. B. Pritzker for governor: Ted Dabrowski, James Mendrick, Darren Bailey and Rick Heidner. 

There are six Republican candidates to running for the seat of retiring Democratic U.S. Sen. Dick Durbin. They are Casey Chlebek, Don Tracy, R. Cary Capparelli, Pamela Denise Long, Jimmy Lee Tillman II and Jeannie Evans.

Two Republican candidates, Dillan S. Vancil and Julie Bickelhaupt, are seeking to run against incumbent Congressman Eric Sorensen in November.

Brad Beekman and Patrick Harlan, are running to be Republican candidates for the state Senate in the 36th District.

In all other races on the Republican ballot there either are no contests, or no candidates filed.

For the Democrats, there are 10 candidates seeking Durbin’s Senate seat: Kevin Ryan, Robin Kelly, Juliana Stratton, Raja Krishnamoorthi, Steve Botsford Jr., Bryan Maxwell, Jonathan Dean, Sean Brown, Awisi A. Bustos and Christopher Swan.

Four Democrats — Karina Villa, Stephanie A. Kifowit, Holly Kim and Margaret Croke — are running for state comptroller.

Kwame Raoul is running against Pritzker in the primary.

All polling places will be open from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. Polling places in Kewanee are:
