Over the weekend, Kewanee residents attended the annual Prairie Chicken Arts Festival held downtown. Events included the annual pancake breakfast held by the Kewanee Police and Fire departments, the Chalk Art Competition and a flea market. Attendees were also able to view students’ art on the windows of local businesses. Here are some photos of this year’s festival.

The winners of the chalk art competition were announced by the PCF on Sunday.

Scarlett Morey won first place in the youth category ages 5 to 10. Ellise Smith was awarded second place in that category.

Iris Seiden won the youth competition ages 11 to 13 and Charlotte Paxton was awarded second place.

In the youth category, ages 14 to 17, Brooklyn Schiltz took first prize. Second prize went to a team of two, Katelyn DeSmit and Tobi Elgin.

In the adult amateur competition, Brook Gatter won first prize. The Heck team of Benjamin, Rebecca and Ethan took second place and Layla Dev was awarded third.

In the professional champion, Tim Bryner was awarded first place with John Soukoup receiving second place.

The People’s Choice Awards were given to Sara Griffin in the youth category; Layla Dev in the Amateur Category and Tim Bryner in the professional category.
