Two contracts for construction of the new splash pad in Liberty Park were approved at the February meeting of the Kewanee Park Board.

MSI of Kewanee was the low bidder on both contracts, one for plumbing work and one for electrical work. There were two bidders for the electrical job and MSI was the only bidder for the plumbing.

Both bids came in under the estimated cost for the projects. “We’re pretty happy” with the bids, Parks Director Andrew Dwyer said.

The board also gave preliminary approval for the park district budget for the coming year.

And the bid of D’s Freeze to operate the concessions at Northeast Park for the summer was approved. D’s Freeze is operated by Ladosha and Liz Bystry.
