The Galva Beta Sigma Phi chapters hosted their 44th annual craft show on Saturday, Oct. 19, and claim it to be one of their best.
“Over 900 people attended,” said Michelle Cheline, co-chair of the event. “Everything went smoothly, and it was a great day for everyone.”
Held at the Galva High School, the craft show featured over 100 vendors offering handmade items for purchase. Holiday fare, jewelry, T-shirts, vintage clothing, perfumes, candles, and baked goods were just a few of the things showcased in individual booths. Participants filled the gym floor, school hallways, and a section at the front of the building.

Lunch in the cafeteria included barbeque and/or ham sandwiches, chips, fancy desserts, and a drink, all prepared by the sorority members. The Kids Key Club volunteers were on hand to clear tables and help sell beverages.

According to Cheline, preparation for the 2025 Craft Show begins almost immediately after the doors are closed on the 2024 event. Invitations to the vendors go out in April, but a lot of planning goes into the day before that.
She and her co-chair Judy Anderson appreciate the high school’s cooperation and the community support,
“It takes a lot of teamwork to make this happen,” said Cheline. “The profits are given back to the community in many ways.”
Among those benefiting are Galva Freedom Fest, Galva Fire Department, Galva Schools, Galva Public Library, Galva Food Pantry, Galva Lions Club Empty Stocking Fund, Levitt Amp Music series, Galva Arts Council, and the Christmas Love Tree.
