Obituary For Timothy "Tim" Lance Shaner

Bradford – Timothy “Tim” Lance Shaner, 75, of Bradford, passed away Sunday, Aug. 9, 2026, surrounded by family and their one-eyed cat, Eyeda, at his home in Bradford. Tim was born March 15, 1951, in Kewanee, the son of Glenn and Mary (Cinnamon) Shaner. He attended Neponset High School and graduated with the class of 1969 and then went on to graduate from WIU college located in Macomb, Illinois, with a degree in music education. Tim married Susan Diane Wallace on July 16, 1977; she survives.

Tim is survived by one daughter, Stacey (Michael McCoy) Shaner of Dahinda, Ill.; two sons, Lance (Meredith) Shaner of Park Ridge, Ill., and Zachary Shaner of Kewanee, Ill.; four grandchildren, Oliver, Isaak, Genevieve, and Annelise; four sisters, Patricia Yepsen of Neponset, Ill., Rebecca Magalhaes of Neponset, Ill., Linda Schmitt of Neponset, Ill. and Marilyn (Bob) Thompson of Plymouth, Minn.; and two brothers, Glenn Shaner II of Neponset, Ill. and Solomon Shaner of Peoria, Ill. Tim was preceded in death by his parents.

Tim was known for his many hobbies, one of which he carried on through life with excitement and pride; his love of music. Tim played in bands for years, especially with two bands close to his heart, Summer Breeze and Inside Out, where he played keyboards. Tim enjoyed reading the newspapers, magazines and books. What he couldn’t find in the newspaper, he found by watching the news on TV. Tim was also a huge fan of Chicago sports, mainly the Chicago Bears, who he spent years rooting for. Among these hobbies and interests, Tim was also a dedicated member of the community, as he served as an election judge for many years, representing the Democratic Party. He was also an Elmira Township trustee. Tim was a self-employed farmer who could be found tending the land he cared deeply for along with his brother, Glenn. He would retire from this in 2016, but never truly stopped cultivating and caring for his property.

A memorial service of Tim’s life will be held on Friday, Aug. 14, 2026. Calling hours are from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. with services following at 1 p.m. at Golnick Family Funeral and Cremation Services, located in Kewanee, Ill. A private burial will take place at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to the Illinois Cancer Care of Peoria or Stark County High School Band and Choir. Condolences may be left for Tim’s family on his tribute wall at www.golnickschuenemanfh.com

Tim meant a lot to me, he was Genes best man in our wedding. It was awesome to see him start playing again with The Breeze when Gene got a band going. His talent added so much to the band and he added laughter. Was always glad he wore his pliers to practice like a typical farmer. I enjoyed debating with him. RIP music man.
