Shirley R. Taylor, 90, of Buda, IL died on Saturday, December 28, 2024, at OSF St. Clare Medical Center, Princeton. Cremation rites will be accorded. Private interment services will be on April 22, 2025 in Bunker Hill Cemetery, Buda. Memorials may be made to Western Bureau County Food Pantry, or Buda Fire Department, or Buda Mason Memorial Library District. Stackhouse-Moore Funeral & Cremation Services is assisting the family.

Shirley Rae Davis was born on April 22, 1934, in Buda, IL the daughter of Gerald and Edna (Carper) Davis. She was raised and educated in Buda graduating Buda High School in 1952. On October 30, 1953, she married Robert “Bob” Taylor in Buda, IL. Bob died on April 10, 1989. Shirley had worked as a seamstress at Morris Foundation in Buda for several years.

She was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Sheffield and had served on the Buda Library Board for many years. She loved to read and enjoyed knitting, crocheting and gardening as well as cooking for others.

Survivors include sons, David (Karen) Taylor, Sheffield and Steve (Carolyn) Taylor, Princeton; daughter, Laurie (Mike) Wirth, Wyanet; seven grandchildren, Brooke (Matt) Allen, Erika Taylor, Josh Taylor, Aaron (Kayla Hand) Taylor, Justin Taylor, Benjamin Wirth, and Adam (Kristi) Wirth; nine great grandchildren; and her sister, Marie Stabler, Sterling, IL. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and sisters, Jean Steltenpohl and Vivian Junis.

Shirley was a lifelong Democrat and did not like Donald J. Trump.
