Obituary For Ruth Ellen Cambron

Ruth Ellen Cambron, 90, of Kewanee, IL, passed away on February 6, 2025, in Rockford, IL following a short illness. A Celebration of Life will be held March 15, 2025, from noon – 4pm at the Kewanee American Legion located at 116 E Third St. Kewanee, IL. Cremation rites have been accorded, and a private burial will be held at a later date at St. Anthony’s Catholic Cemetery-Atkinson, Il.

Ruth was born on June 29,1934 in rural Atkinson, the daughter of Edmond and Elizabeth (VanVooren) DeDecker. She attended Atkinson Schools and graduated from St. Mary’s Academy in Nauvoo, IL class of 1952. She married Jean William “Bill” Cambron on September 27, 1958, he preceded her in death on December 6, 2010. Ruth worked secretarial jobs, sales positions and as a caretaker. Later in life she worked at the YMCA in the daycare where she quickly became “Grandma Ruth” to many children who were in her care. Ruth enjoyed playing bingo, poker, telling jokes and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was beautiful, kind soul with the patience of a Saint and will be extremely missed.

Those left to cherish her memory are her daughters Ann Cambron and Fiancé William Atkinson of Algonquin, IL, Paula (David) Jacobs of Kewanee, son Patrick Cambron of Kewanee, Grandchildren; Sarah (Kevin) Johnson-Dingle, Amanda (Ryan) Uttech, Andrew (Cassidy) Conrad, Thomas Conrad, Ryan Conrad, Stephanie Wyss, Sara Wyss, Alyssa Jacobs, Austin Jacobs (Sarah Kocan), and Robert Cambron, Great-Grandchildren; Ace Jacobs, Ava Jacobs, Aybree Powe and Rowan Uttech. Several very special nieces and nephews who in her eyes were all her favorite.

Ruth was preceded in death by her husband Bill Cambron, parents Edmond and Elizabeth DeDecker, son Shannon Mark Cambron, siblings Ione (Clarence) Hicks, Jane (Bill) Hamer, Ralph “Bud” DeDecker, Janet (Rich) Vyneman.

    Ruth was one of the kindest women I've ever met. I never saw her without a smile. She never forgot who you were. She always stopped to talk. She had a beautiful soul. She will be missed by so many. May god comfort her children and grandchildren, And greats during this difficult adjustment. ❤️🙏
