Royal “Sandy” Carl Peed, 73, of Kewanee, passed away on Wednesday, March 18, 2026, in his home surrounded by his family. Sandy was born February 18, 1953, in Fort Benning, Georgia, the son of Ralph Emery and Millie Carlene (Schultz) Peed. He married Laura Marie (Olson) Peed on April 21, 1989, in Las Vegas, Nevada, and spent 36 love filled years together.

Sandy is survived by his wife, Laura; four children, Ralph R. (Mechelle) Peed, of Kewanee, Rachel (Ed) Farwell of Bettendorf, Iowa, Kelly (Matt) Duytschaver of Kewanee, Kerry (Beau) Baumbach of Kewanee; nine grandchildren, McKynzie Tsesmilles, Matthew Peed, Michael Peed, Emma Peed, Leah Farwell, Dominick Farwell, Jersie Duytschaver, Lyric Duytschaver, Hudson Duytschaver; four great-grandchildren; two step great-grandchildren; three siblings, Kathy (Lee) Smith, of Woodhull, Sue VanDeRostyne, of Oak Hill, Florida, and Elaine (Patrick) Barnes, of Edgewater, Florida; and many more cousins, nieces, and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister Nancy P. Peed; and a brother-in-law, Mark VanDeRostyne.

Sandy graduated from Kewanee High School with the class of “1971” and later attended college to further his education in mechanics. Sandy worked as a mechanic for several years and was co-owner of Peed’s Auto Parts before selling his share of the company to his family. He later moved on to working as a short haul truck driver for Carley Carriers. Sandy had a deep appreciation for life’s simple pleasures. He enjoyed watching NASCAR races and was a loyal fan of the Cubs, Bears, and Cowboys. In his younger years, he found freedom on the open road riding his Harley motorcycle. He also loved gardening, fishing, bowling, camping, racing at Byron and Cordova, participating in demolition derbies, coaching little league, and relaxing with his favorite game shows and westerns. He also had a special place in his heart for his beloved dog, Baby Girl. One of Sandy’s favorite pastimes was traveling to Wisconsin, where he enjoyed riding the trails in his Polaris Ranger. Closer to home, he treasured time spent with family and friends, often gathered in his garage watching sports and sharing laughter. Sandy was a jack-of-all trades. Known for his generous spirit, Sandy was always willing to lend a helping hand to family and friends. His kindness, pride in his loved ones, and easygoing nature will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
