Ronald John Tuisl, 88, of Plainfield, IL, formerly of Annawan and Prophetstown, IL, passed peacefully into God’s hands on March 12th, 2024. He was at home and surrounded by his loving family.

Ron was born on November 27th, 1935 in Chicago, IL. He was a graduate of St. George High School, Evanston, IL in 1954, and immediately enrolled in the U.S. Army. He was honorably discharged in 1956 and attended St. Ambrose College where he met the love of his life, Margaret Tuttle, after being seated alphabetically in an Ethics class. After graduating from St. Ambrose with a BA in Political Science, Ron and Marge married on August 13th, 1960 in Monticello, IA and spent 63 beautiful and loving years together.

Ron started his career in Prophetstown, IL where he taught high school English, coached cross country and directed school plays. In 1968, he earned his MS in Education Administration from Northern Illinois University. He went on to serve in administration first as Principal in the Erie Elementary schools and then as Principal in the Prophetstown Elementary schools. After earning advanced certification, Ron became the Superintendent for the Annawan School District in 1985 until his retirement in 1995. After his retirement, he served in multiple interim Superintendent positions and worked with United Township Tech Prep in East Moline, IL. He served a total of 45 years in Education where he touched many lives through his teaching, mentoring and leadership.

Ron’s passions centered around his family, friends, and community. He served on the Prophetstown Park District Board, Prophetstown Fire Department as a volunteer EMT, St. Catherine’s Men’s Club, coached numerous baseball and softball teams and attended hundreds of his kids and grandkids activities. In retirement, Ron and Marge enjoyed old and new friends, traveled the world, spent winter months in New Smyrna Beach, FL and enjoyed their Carillon community. Ron was an avid fisherman. The thrill of his fishing career was when he landed a 49” Northern Pike on a Canadian fishing trip in 2019. Ron was a devoted Chicago Cubs, Bears and Blackhawks fan and enjoyed watching and attending many games.

Survivors include his wife, Margaret Tuisl of Plainfield, IL, his children; John (Laura) Tuisl of Western Springs, IL; Jim (Carla) Tuisl of Clinton, IA; Joan Tuisl (Matt DeDobbelaere) of Clarendon Hills, IL; Joel (Anne) Tuisl of Geneva, IL; Jeff (Linnea) Tuisl of St. Charles, IL; Jerry (Julie) Tuisl of Cle Elum, WA, thirteen grandchildren, one great-grandson and another on the way. He was preceded in death by his mother, Bertha S. Welsh, his infant daughter, Julie Anne Tuisl and his brother-in-law, Joseph Tuttle.

Visitation will be held on Friday, March 15th from 3-6:30pm at Anderson Memorial Home, 21131 W. Renwick Rd, Plainfield, IL. A memorial visitation Saturday, March 16th, from 9-11:00am at St Catherine Catholic Church in Prophetstown, IL followed by the Celebration of the Mass of Christian Burial with Reverend David Reese officiating. Burial will be at Riverside Cemetery in Prophetstown, followed by a luncheon in the church basement.
