Obituary For Robert Marshall "Bob" Winn

Toulon – Robert Marshall “Bob” Winn, 71, of Toulon, passed away at 7:54 p.m. Wednesday, February 12, 2025, at OSF St. Mary Medical Center in Galesburg. Bob was born on April 28, 1953, in Kewanee to Marshall Webster and Frances Kathleen (Hotz) Winn. He married Jayne Elizabeth (Johnson) Winn on April 10, 1982, in Kewanee; she survives.

Also surviving are his son, Keith Marshall Winn of Galesburg; one sister, Patricia Anderson of Arizona; brother-in-law, Ted (Mary) Johnson of McHenry and sister-in-law, Kathy Johnson of Princeville; and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers-in-law Eldon Anderson, Gary Johnson and Ron Johnson and sister-in-law, Cathy Johnson. He deeply loved his family, and that love was deeply returned.

Bob worked at various police departments in the area before starting his long-time career as a deputy sheriff at the Stark County Sheriff’s Office where he worked from 1986, until he chose to retire as Chief Deputy/Captain in December 2016. Bob was always known for being fair, honest and compassionate with everyone he met. When Bob retired, his family was thrilled to have him home to stay after sharing him for so many years with everyone. He was a man with simple pleasures who enjoyed rural and small-town life.

Growing up on the family farm provided Bob with some of the best years of his life and instilled in him life-long values and a love for Farmall tractors. Additionally, he loved classic cars, driving his Cub Cadet, and driving his black truck “Angus.” He was an avid reader, often reading several books at one time, with an affinity for military history. He served in the Illinois National Guard and was a member of the Toulon American Legion Post #416.

A visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Friday, February 28, 2025, at Haskell Funeral and Cremation Services in Wyoming. We hope you will come and share happy memories of Bob. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Toulon American Legion. To leave condolences for Bob’s family, please visit www.haskellfuneral.com.

Thinking of you Jane, and all loved ones and friends. I never had the pleasure of meeting Bob but Jane was a high school classmate. May you all be surrounded with comfort and love. Sincerely, Mari Kay ( Kida) Robinson
