Obituary For Richard L. "Dick" Rouse

KEWANEE – Richard L. “Dick” Rouse, 75, of Kewanee, died at 3:52 a.m., Sunday, March 2, 2025, at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria.

He was born on October 28, 1949, in Princeton, IL, the son of Charles and Bernadine (Butte) Rouse. He married Mary Jo Pickett on August 21, 1990. Survivors include his wife of Kewanee, his son, Philip (Shirley) Rouse of DeKalb, IL, stepson, TJ (Brittney) Dura of Springfield, IL, daughter-in-law, Wendy Rouse of Moline, IL and his five grandchildren: Chloe and Carly Rouse, Drew Rouse, Blake McDaniel and Jaidyn Dura. He was preceded in death by his parents, his son, David Rouse, three brothers and two sisters.

Dick served his country in the Army National Guard for 46 years. He had a strong Catholic faith and prayed the rosary daily. Dick was a selfless man who was always there to give a helping hand. He had a passion for farming and animals and loved facilitating people through difficult times with his grief dogs. More than anything else in life Dick loved to spend time with his family.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m., Friday, March 7 at St. John’s Catholic Church in Galva. Celebrant will be Fr. Chris Haake. A visitation will be held from 4:00-6:00 p.m., Thursday, March 6 at Rux Funeral Home in Kewanee with a recitation of the rosary at 6:00 p.m. The inurnment will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, March 8 at Wethersfield Cemetery in Kewanee where military rites will be accorded by the Kewanee Veterans Council. Memorials may be directed to Henry County Humane Society-Kewanee Chapter or to the Friends of the Animals.
