Obituary For Richard E. "Rik" Camey

KEWANEE – Richard E. “Rik” Camey, 76, of Kewanee, passed away at 4:00 a.m., Saturday, December 7, 2024, at the Hillcrest Home in rural Geneseo with his family by his side.

He was born on July 19, 1948, in Kewanee, the son of Ray and Helen (Bates) Camey. He had married Margaret Doye in 1969. Survivors include his two daughters, Kim (Mark) Tudder of Kewanee and Danielle Camey of Galva, a brother, Bill (Janet) Camey of Kewanee, a sister, Pat Monroe of Kewanee, six grandchildren; Mallery (Austin) Pettis, Katie and Ryan
Tudder and Samantha, Jennifer and Kimber Schwigen, ten great grandchildren; Lillie, Brynn, Addison, Leo, Dylon, Aliana, Drevyn, Claira, Keigon and Remi and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Rik attended Kewanee schools and served his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. He worked many years as a painter and then in maintenance at the Kewanee Boiler Corporation, until its closing. He then worked in the sanitation department for the City of Kewanee until his retirement. He also owned and operated MRM Trash Hauling for many years. He enjoyed tinkering in his garage. He loved his family and his beloved dog Annie, he loved telling stories, and cherished the time spent with family and friends.

A memorial service will be held at 4:00 p.m., Tuesday, December 17 at Rux Funeral Home in Kewanee with Pastor Haley Hausman officiating. Following the services military rites will be accorded by Kewanee Veterans Council at the funeral home. Memorials may be directed to the Henry County Humane Society or to the American Cancer Society.
