Obituary For Rebecca Clara Rediger

Rebecca Clara Rediger, 90, of Princeton, formerly of Buda, Ill., passed away on Tuesday, Oct. 6, 2026, at Liberty Village in Princeton, surrounded by her loving family.

Rebecca was born on Feb. 2, 1936, in Moore County, N.C., the daughter of George Thomas and Vera Tunis (Anderson) Stroud. She graduated from Buda High School with the Class of 1955. On June 19, 1955, she married Ralph L. Rediger at the Buda Methodist Church, beginning a marriage that would span more than 71 years.

Rebecca devoted much of her life to her family, raising four boys, creating a warm and welcoming home and being the love of Ralph’s life. Rebecca had a creative spirit and enjoyed making her own greeting cards and working alongside Ralph to build birdhouses, benches and other crafts. She loved gardening and took great pride in her flower beds and vegetable gardens. She also had a special love for birds and thoughtfully cultivated her yard to welcome them throughout the seasons.

Rebecca was a longtime member of Bunker Hill Church in Buda and a member of Women’s Aglow International. While raising her boys, she served as a youth group leader and Sunday School teacher. Her faith and family were important throughout her life, and she especially cherished time spent with those she loved.

She is survived by her husband, Ralph Rediger of Princeton; three sons, Rick (Judy) Rediger of Wyanet, Robin (Mae) Rediger of Buda, and Ryan (Angie) Rediger of Normal; daughter-in-law, Julie Rediger of Buda; 13 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Also surviving are her sisters-in-law, Marijean Bishel of East Peoria, Bernie Rediger of Toulon, and Linda Manning of Morton.

Rebecca was preceded in death by her parents; her son, Rodney Rediger; and six siblings, Aline Billings, Donald Stroud, Blanche Anderson, George Stroud Jr., Royal Stroud and Carrolyn Anderson.

Visitation will be held Monday, Oct. 12, 2026, from 9 to 11 a.m. at Bunker Hill Church in Buda, with the funeral service beginning at 11 a.m. Pastor Chantha Chhim will officiate. Burial will immediately follow at Hopeland Cemetery in Buda.
