Obituary For Rebecca "Becky" King

REBECCA “BECKY” KING, 78, of Springfield, passed away on November 8, 2025. She was born on August 8, 1947, in Kewanee, Illinois to her parents Wayne and Eloise (Jacobs) Nordstrom.

Becky married the love of her life, George King, in 1965 and together they forged a life full of beautiful memories and travel. They were each other’s best friends, and the life they built was nothing short of incredible. They went everywhere with each other, including annual vacations to Arizona, fishing trips, various WW2 museums, and more. She loved nothing more than to be with him, and her love for him was tangible in the way she loved and cared for her family and those around her.

Becky was a woman of many talents and interests. She enjoyed collecting jewelry, crocheting and knitting, and was a skilled fisherman when she accompanied George out on the water. She loved to cheer on the Chicago Cubs and Ohio State Buckeyes, and she loved taking care of those close to her.

Above all, her greatest joy was in the kitchen: cooking and baking her signature dishes that everyone looked forward to and she forged a successful reputation for. Cooking was more than a passion for her: it was a way to love others and create a space to gather and fellowship. She was truly gifted and turning a few ingredients into recipes that earned a legacy, specifically her famous blueberry pie and homemade potato salad. She was also especially proud of her daughter and son-in-law’s successful bakery business that all began with her pie crust recipe; her kitchen skills will continue to live on in the lives that she leaves behind.

Survivors include her daughters, Michelle R. (Don V.) Cord Sr. and Christina L. (Eric) Amadio; grandchildren, Josh Brennan (Ashley Baker), Nathan (Nicole) Peterson, Casey Peterson, and Rebecca Cord (Logan Johnson); great grandchildren, Orion Peterson, Quinlan Currier, Silas Currier, Dakota Peterson, and Scottlyn Peterson; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her brother Doug Nordstrom.

Visitation for Becky will be held on Friday November 14 from 12-1:00pm with a funeral ceremony beginning at 1:00pm. Burial will follow in Ferncliff Cemetery. The family would extend special thanks to the staff at the Masonic Home, specifically Gretel, Kelly, Trish, Holly, and Sashi, for their outstanding care.
