Obituary For Rebecca "Becky" Jean Vigor
Rebecca “Becky” Jean Vigor, 78, of Kewanee passed away on September 15, 2024, at Betty’s Garden Memory Care. She was born November 1, 1945, in Kewanee, IL, the daughter of Joseph Edward Sr. and Catherine June (Crockett) Hand. She married Kent A. Vigor on May 6, 1967, at the Osceola Baptist Church and they celebrated 57 years of marriage this past May.
Becky lived in Osceola throughout her childhood, graduating from Toulon High School in 1963. She has resided in Kewanee since 1967.
Becky began her career at Martin Engineering. She then worked for the Wethersfield School District Cafeteria for 10+ years. Finally, she worked and retired in 2010 from Lyle R. Jager Agency as a customer service representative, after nearly 25 years of service. Becky enjoyed spending time with her family, grandchildren, and friends. She was an avid reader, an excellent baker, and enjoyed quilting. She also enjoyed bowling and in 2015 was inducted as an Honorary Hall of Fame member of the Kewanee USBC WBA.
Becky was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Kewanee for over 50 years.
In addition to her husband of 57 years, Kent, she is survived by daughter, Melissa A. (Joseph) Cwick of Carmel, IN and son, Joseph K. (Michelle) Vigor of O’Fallon, MO; four grandchildren, Kirsten (fiancé Blake Rinehart) Vigor of Greenwood, MO, Christopher Cwick of Dubuque, IA, Alex Vigor of Maplewood MO, and Elizabeth Cwick of Lafayette, IN; brothers, James (Margaret) Hand of Osceola, John (Crystle) Hand of Elmira; sister, Janet (Richard) Ingle of Oneida; sister-in-law, Janet Hand of Peoria, Il; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Becky was preceded in death by her parents, three half-sisters, and her brother, Joseph Hand Jr.
Visitation will be from 5-7 PM, Friday, September 20, at Golnick-Schueneman Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 10:30, September 21, at the funeral home. Pastor Linnea Gustafson will officiate. Burial will follow at Evergreen Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested and may be made to First Presbyterian Church and the Kewanee Senior Citizens Center and will be received by Golnick-Schueneman Funeral Home, Kewanee who is honored to be caring for Becky’s family.
We would like to thank Becky Bennison for all her help in taking care of Becky.
