Lucille F. Holmes, 92, of Kewanee, passed away at her son’s home on Friday, Oct. 2, 2026, surrounded by her family, in Kewanee. She was born on Oct. 25, 1933, the daughter of Emett N. and Flora A. (Taylor) Sullivan, in Kewanee. She married Robert D. Holmes Sr. on Jan. 10, 1952, in Kewanee; he preceded her in death in 1998.

Lucille is survived by three sons, Bob (April) Holmes, Cliff (Anna) Holmes, and Steve Holmes, all of Kewanee; grandson, Daniel Holmes of Kewanee; great-grandson, Salem Holmes; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Robert; daughter, Trina Holmes; brothers, Clarence “Pete” Sullivan, Lester Sullivan, Robert Sullivan, and Clifford “Sully” Sullivan, and one at birth; and sisters, Alma Hartshorn, Pauline Whisker, and two at birth.

Lucille worked as a cafeteria supervisor for the Kewanee School District for 25 years. She spent Tuesday nights at the Senior Citizens Center eating dinner. She also went with them on bus trips to the casino. Lucille never missed a Chicago Cubs game. She enjoyed watching Western movies, doing word books, cooking, and spending time with her family, especially over morning coffee. She loved country music concerts and going to them with her sons. She also loved travelling the country, having gone to Branson, Hawaii and Nashville, specifically the Grand Ole Opry.

A visitation will be held 1-2 p.m., Friday, Oct. 9, 2026, at Golnick Family Funeral and Cremation Services in Kewanee. A memorial service will follow at 2 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 9, 2026, at the Funeral Home. Pastor Andrew Christman will officiate. Burial will take place in Pleasant View Cemetery.
