Obituary For Linda L. Behnke

KEWANEE - Linda L. Behnke, 81, of Kewanee died at 4:57 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 29, 2026, at OSF St. Mary Medical Center in Galesburg.

She was born June 28, 1945, in Galva, the daughter of Wayne and Greeba (Brew) Hartman. She married Robert Dean Behnke Sr., and he preceded her in death on July 13, 1988. Those surviving include her son, Robert “Bobby Behnke Jr. of Kewanee, her daughter, Debbie Foster of Kewanee, her brothers; Tom (Judy) Hartman of Florida, Jim Hartman of Galva, Mike Hartman of Galva, her grandchildren; Tiffany Amber Behnke, Heather St. Clair, Matthew St. Clair, Robin Behnke, and Brett Behnke, and great-grandchildren; Scottie, Corey, Randy, Kayden, Tyson, Liam, and Micah, and her bonus granddaughter Lacey Nordeen. She was also preceded in death by her parents, sister, Shirley Cernovich, brother, John, a brother in infancy and two sons, Jeffery and Bruce.

Linda attended Galva High School, she worked for several different restaurants throughout her career and in her later years, she worked for the Galva Foundry. Her hobbies include baking and cooking. Her family meant the world to her, and she loved to watch her grandkids play outside.

Per her wishes, cremation will be accorded and no services will be held. Rux Funeral Home in Kewanee is assisting the family with arrangements.

    We lived across the street from Linda for 15 years... always feisty, always looking out for everyone's kids.... She was always the first one on our block to have up her Christmas lights ( i will never forget that ) She will be missed, since moving away from that block in 2015 i would see her and Walmart, and she would always say Hello and ask how my husband who is disabled was doing..... Linda took no crap from anyone, i think that's what i liked best about her! My prayers go out to her family.... her Grandson Matt and my son were best friends a long time !
