Obituary For Justin Marcus Dana

Justin Marcus Dana, 43, passed away unexpectedly on March 25, 2026, in East Peoria, IL. He was born on October 30, 1982, in Beaumont, Texas, to Glen and Mary Dana.

Justin is survived by his beloved daughter, Layla Dana of Bradford, who was the light of his life and his greatest pride. His parents, Glen (June) Dana of Kewanee, and Mary (Todd Engle) Dana of Greensboro, Georgia; his siblings, Steve (Lindsey) Dana, Nick (Tara) Dana, and Lindsay (Marshall) Nelson, all of Kewanee; as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews who will cherish his memory.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Don and Grace Lindsey; and his paternal grandparents, Varn and Pat Dana, with who he shared a deep and special bond; as well as a cousin, Abby Dana and uncle, Ron Ellis.

Justin was raised and educated in Kewanee, Illinois, and was an early graduate of Kewanee High School with the class of 2001. He was a hands-on worker who took pride in helping others with any job or task set before him. Known for his ability to think outside the box, Justin approached life with creativity and determination.

A true outdoorsman, Justin found joy in camping and tending to his garden. He also enjoyed attending music festivals and concerts. Above all else, he cherished being a father. His daughter, Layla, meant everything to him and will forever be his greatest legacy.

Justin will be remembered for his hardworking spirit, his love of the outdoors, the deep love he had for his family, and his one-of-a-kind personality.

The family will hold a private service. A celebration of Justin’s life will be held on April 11th at 2:00 p.m. at TD’s in Kewanee, Illinois, in honor of his memory. Memorials may be made to Glen Dana for an education fund to be established for Justin’s daughter, Layla. Online condolences may be left for Justin’s family at www.golnickschuenemanfh.com.

To Glen, I will never forget when you helped put up my Greenhouse at Tippy Pine I used to love the fact that Justin enjoyed having lunch everyday that I cooked it was a joy to cook for you all but it was a special joy to cook for him because he was always excited about what I was going to have. When I saw he'd passed I remembered that young boy helping put the greenhouse up I am so sorry my words are inadequate he was a person that I have always enjoyed remembering when you put the greenhouse up for me my thoughts go out to your entire family.
