Obituary For John Dean Hill

John Dean Hill, 76, of Kewanee, Ill., passed away on July 27, 2026, in Dexter, Mo.

John was born on June 22, 1950, in Kewanee, Ill., the son of John F. and Darlene I. (Davis) Hill.

John is survived by his children, Nakole (Brandon) Wooley of Jefferson City, Missouri; John Hill of Holts Summit, Missouri; and Jacob Hill of Mason City, Iowa; his grandchildren, Landry Wooley, Mili Wooley, Wini Wooley, Beckley Wooley, Zachary Goodenbour, Braxtyn Hill, Jude (Johnnie) Hill, Jeremiah Hill, and Jaxson Hill; and many extended family members and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John F. Hill and Darlene I. (Davis) Hill; his son, Jared Hill, who passed away on July 14, 2018; his brother, James Hill; and a brother who passed away in infancy.

With John’s passing, the immediate family of John F. and Darlene Hill has come to a close, but the values they instilled, hard work, kindness, and love for family, live on through the children and grandchildren who carry their legacy forward.

John spent much of his life doing what he loved, driving. As an over-the-road truck driver, he traveled well over one million miles throughout his career, earning membership in the Million Mile Club. Throughout those countless miles, John never had an accident while driving a semi, a testament to his skill, dedication, and commitment to safety. The open road was more than his livelihood. It was where he felt at home.

After his years in trucking, John continued serving others through his work with Securitas until his retirement in 2023.

John was known for his quiet generosity and willingness to help anyone in need. If someone needed a hand, he was there. Whether it was lending his time, sharing his knowledge, or simply showing up, he believed in helping others without expecting anything in return.

Above all, John loved his family. He was proud of his children and grandchildren and treasured the time he spent with them. Although John spent much of his life driving America’s highways, those who loved him knew his greatest gift was making others feel safe. Whether behind the wheel of a semi or on the other end of a late-night phone call, he was a steady presence who always wanted to know his family made it home safely.

John will be remembered for his strong work ethic, humble spirit, unwavering dependability, and generous heart. His life was a quiet example of service, loyalty, and love for his family. Though he has reached the end of his earthly journey, the lessons he taught through his life and example will continue to live on in those who loved him.

A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 24, 2026, at Evergreen Memorial Gardens in Kewanee.
