TOULON - John D. Goodwin, 85, passed away on Sept. 18, 2026, at OSF St Mary Medical Center in Galesburg. He was born in Toulon, Ill. to George and Carmen (Egbert) Goodwin.

He married Bonnie Morrell Sept. 17, 1961, and had one son, Mark. John loved gardening and was an avid runner, having run the Boston Marathon twice. Together, John and Bonnie started the Indian Creek 5K Run in Toulon in the 1970's, which is still an active event. As a lifelong Packer fan, John was proud to be an owner/stockholder of Green Bay Partners. A devoted husband and father, he is survived by his wife, Bonnie and his son, Mark (Christine), of Cumming, Ga., as well as nieces and a nephew. He is preceded in death by his parents and a sister and brother-in-law Carole (Wayne) Winans.

He retired from Caterpillar in 1996 having previously served in the Army National Guard for five years.

Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 22, 2026, at the West Jersey Cemetery. Pastor Al Harmon will officiate. Online condolences for John's family may be left on his tribute wall at www.golnickhaskellfuneralfh.com.
