Janice Marie Hanson, 83, of Kewanee, passed away on April 7, 2026, at Gardens at Kewanee, surrounded by her family. She was born on July 16, 1942, in Kewanee, the daughter of Frank and Irene (De Fauw) Gruszeczki. She married Fredric “Fred” C. Hanson on August 19, 1961, at Saint Stanislaus Church in Kewanee, he preceded her in death on June 11, 2022.

Janice is survived by her two sons, Todd (Norma) Hanson, Downers Grove, and Tim (Courtney) Hanson, Kewanee; granddaughters, Jessica, Sarah, Julia, and Kayla; grandsons, David, Dalton, and Peyton; and three great grandchildren, Noah, Desmond, and Kylon; sister, Elaine Kutchma, Kewanee. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.

Janice was a graduate of Kewanee High School in 1960. She worked in customer service at many of the retail establishments in Kewanee. She enjoyed traveling and walking with Fred. She loved spending time with her family, especially with her grandchildren. She enjoyed her monthly lunches with her classmates. Janice spent much of her time at the library and loved reading a good book. Janice was a member of St. John Paul II Parish throughout her life.

A visitation will be held from 9:30 am to 10:30 am, Tuesday, April 14, at St. John Paul II Parish. Rosary Services will be at 10:30 am, Tuesday, April 14, 2026, at the church. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 am, Tuesday, April 14, 2026, at the church. Father Narcis Katambe will officiate. Burial will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Visitation School Foundation or the Saint John Paul II Parish.
