KEWANEE - Janet (Collister) Estes, 69, of Kewanee, passed away on November 18, 2025.

She was born on July 22, 1956, to Norman and Barbara (Robinson) Collister. She married Paul Estes on November 22, 1980, in Kewanee. He survives, as do two sons, Johnathan (Angelina) Estes of Volo, IL and Michael Estes (Megan Truitt) of Kewanee. Janet is also survived by a sister, Linda (John) Coon of Morton, IL, brothers, Marshall Collister of Tremont, IL, Robert (Jennifer) Collister, Russell (Carol) Collister and Keith (Teri) Collister, all of Galva, and Phillip (Greg) Collister of Owings Mills, MD, two grandchildren, Abigail Estes and Matthew Estes and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Norman and Barbara (Robinson) Collister and paternal and maternal grandparents.

Janet attended Galva public schools graduating from Galva High School with the Class of 1974. Janet worked at John H. Best & Sons in Galva as the receptionist, Cornell College in Mt. Vernon, IA in the admissions office, Safeco Insurance in Hoffman Estates, IL with the claims department and Barash & Everett Law in Kewanee for many years as paralegal.

Janet was an avid reader, and she especially loved our dog, Boomer. Janet still held a special group of lifelong friends very close to her heart.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, November 26 at Rux Funeral Home in Kewanee with Pastor Haley Hausman officiating. A visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00 p.m., Tuesday, November 25 at the funeral home. The burial will be in Pleasant View Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the Henry County Humane Society – Kewanee Chapter.
