Obituary For Jane Eloise Mueller
Jane Eloise Mueller, a cherished wife, mother, grandmother, and sister, passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by her loved ones on February 14, 2024, in Neponset, Illinois. Born June 30, 1962, in Geneseo, Illinois, to the late Peter C. and Marion Bos. Jane grew up on a small farm with her large loving family. She was the second youngest in a family of 5 children.
Jane found her soulmate in Larry Mueller in 1980, and together they built a life filled with love, laughter, and the joyous chaos that comes with raising four daughters: Rosemary Goossens (Brent Goossens, Sheffield), Roxanne Daniel (Will Daniel, Moline), Rebecca Mueller (Hampton), and Rachel Erickson (Brandon Erickson, Geneseo). Jane was also a loving grandmother to Mason, Max, Madilynn, Henry, and Theodore. Jane's devotion to her family was evident. She instilled independence in her family to do what they wished, supporting them from the sidelines with her unspoken words.
Jane's creative flare, combined with her love of tackling difficult projects and exceptional talent as a seamstress led her to open her own upholstery business, Mueller Sewing, in 1987. Her business not only showcased her remarkable skill and creativity but also served as a testament to her dedication and hard work. Jane poured her heart and soul into Mueller Sewing, creating some of the most unique pieces.
Beyond her business, Jane had a love for the open road and the countryside, which she combined with her dedication to service as a rural carrier for the United States Postal Service (USPS). Delivering newspapers and mail, she connected with her community in a unique and personal way, becoming a familiar and welcomed presence along her route. Her time with the USPS allowed her to witness the seasons change, share moments with her well-acquainted customers, and enjoy the tranquility of rural Illinois, which she dearly loved.
Jane spent most of her time outdoors, tinkering in her garage, gardening, or fishing on the river. If on the rare occasion Jane was caught relaxing, you would find her playing with her dog and the numerous cats that she adored and cared for. Her love for her all animals throughout her life was evident and boundless, and they, in turn, gave her companionship and comfort.
Beyond her immediate family, Jane's love and kindness extended to her siblings, Peter A. Bos (Sue Bos, Geneseo), Jim Bos (Lynn Bos, Atkinson), Patricia Matney (Floyd Matney, Hooppole) and Joan Bos (Dixon), with whom she shared an unbreakable bond. She is also preceded in death by her brother, Peter A. Bos, and both parents, Peter C. and Marion Bos whose memory she held close to her heart. Jane also had numerous nieces and nephews. Her presence brought light and warmth to every family gathering, and her absence will leave a void that cannot be filled.
Jane's legacy is one of love, kindness, and the beauty she brought into the world through her love, her tenacious personality, and her unwavering support for her loved ones. We celebrate Jane and the incredible impact she had on others' lives. Her spirit will live on most in the hearts of those who loved her.
A Celebration of Jane’s Life will take place at 6:00 p.m., Monday, February 19 at Rux Funeral Home in Kewanee with her brother Jim Bos officiating. Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. until the time of the services at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Henry County Humane Society- Kewanee Chapter.
