SHEFFIELD – James C. “Jim” Jensen, 83, of Sheffield, passed away peacefully at 4:25 p.m. on Sunday, April 6, 2025, at the Gardens at Kewanee.

Jim was born on November 13, 1941, in Princeton, Illinois, the son of Merritt and Margaret (Grubb) Jensen. He married the love of his life, Sherry Williams, in 1988. They shared a wonderful life together until her passing on May 29, 2020.

He is survived by his son, James (Tammi) Jensen of Queen Creek, AZ; his daughter, Tracy Jensen of Tampico; and his brother, David Jensen of Sheffield. Jim was a proud grandfather to six grandchildren—Nick, C.J., Matthew, and Jacob Jensen, and Alexis and Brandi Vance—as well as three great-grandchildren: Ben Luis, Declan Pierce, and Cailey Jensen, with one more on the way.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Cindy; a brother, Steven; and his beloved wife, Sherry.

Jim graduated from Manlius High School in 1959 and went on to serve his country with honor in the United States Navy. A lifelong farmer in the Sheffield area, Jim also served as the Gold Township Road Commissioner. He was a dedicated member of the New Bedford Christian Church.

Outside of his work and service, Jim had a deep passion for horses. He loved riding, attending horse shows, and caring for his horses and other farm animals.

In accordance with his wishes, cremation will be accorded. A joint Celebration of Life for both Jim and Sherry will be held at a later date. Rux Funeral Home in Kewanee is assisting the family with arrangements.
