Obituary For Geraldine Joan Staggs
Gerri (Geraldine Joan) Staggs, age 92, of Warminster PA, passed away on July 18, 2024, from a two year long illness. She was the beloved wife of the late Howard G. Staggs of Galesburg IL and the loving mother of Larry Lindburg (Diana Whitney), Myrna DeAngelis (Joe) and Roy Lindburg (Debbie). Caring stepmom to Tim Staggs (Lori), Kim Banks (Jeff) and Tymand Staggs (Kharlo Suico). Her family expanded to eight grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren, three step grandchildren and six step great grandchildren plus many nieces and nephews. Her family will miss her immensely as will numerous others whose lives she touched in positive ways through her kindness and sweet disposition.
Gerri was born and raised in Chicago IL, the daughter of Harold and Esther (Huisinga) Morrison and the only sister to four older brothers. She graduated from Calumet High School and after her marriage to CA (Ade) Lindburg, moved to Cambridge IL, where they farmed for a short time. They then moved to Galva IL in 1955 when Ade joined his family business, Lindburg Oil Co. Galva is where they raised their family and became involved in many community and church activities. She was a long time employee at Galva Federal Savings & Loan.
Gerri moved to Galesburg, Ill., after her marriage to Howard in 1980 and joined in activities with several church and community groups, eventually working in the office of Howard’s business, Staggs Insurance Agency. Besides their local activities, they loved to travel, often on Howard’s motorcycle to visit family and friends, near and far.
After Howard’s passing in 2016, Gerri decided to move to the suburbs of Philadelphia PA to be closer to her daughter Myrna and her extended family. Besides family gatherings, she became a part of a senior living community in Warminster developing many close friendships with other residents and staff, loving the variety of social activities, especially bridge games, movies, and Bible studies. Her Philly family converted her from being a Chicago sports fan to being an avid Phillies, Eagles and Sixers fan; although when the Cubs played the Phillies, she cheered for both teams.
Gerri was a lifelong Christ follower, loving God with quiet devotion. She exemplified selfless love by being a dedicated caretaker to her mom for over 12 years, and later her brother Gene and mother-in-law Edith. In good times and hard times, she leaned on God to help guide her and trusted in His absolute love and forgiveness. As an imperfect human, Gerri was perfectly loved by a Heavenly Father who holds her now in eternal life, according to John 3:16.
Services will be held at a later date to be determined in Galesburg, Ill.
