Obituary For Gerald A. "Jerry" Grebner
KEWANEE – Gerald A. “Jerry” Grebner, 80, of Kewanee, died Monday, May 19, 2025, at his home.
Jerry was born February 18, 1945, in Metamora, IL, the son of John L. and Hildagard (Alig) Grebner. He married Jean M. Leaf on October 24, 1987, in Westmont, IL. Survivors include his wife of Kewanee, two sons, Eric Grebner of Peoria, IL and Todd (Marcie) Grebner of Ooltewah, TN, a step-son, Matthew (Beth) Jenkins of Kewanee, a step-daughter, Monica (Darrin) Nelson of Henderson, KY, two brothers; Russel (Nancy) Grebner and Thomas Grebner, both of Metamora, three sisters; Janet Rasler of Metamora, Victoria Dietsch of Cincinnati, OH and Susan (Norm) Waggoner of Pekin, five grandchildren; Morgan Dockery, Kyle Dockery and Colten, Emily and Cassidy Grebner and eight great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and five siblings: Phyllis, Collette, John, Marvin and June.
He served his country in the U.S. Army obtaining the rank of Specialist 5th Class. Jerry was definitely a car guy having worked in the car business for 50 years since high school. He was a successful businessman at Grebner Motors with loyal employees and patrons. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church and the Kewanee Rotary Club and was recognized as a Paul Harris Fellow. Jerry always had a joke to tell, and he enjoyed fishing, and he especially enjoyed taking care of his lawn. Most of all Jerry loved cruising with Jean in his classic cars while listening to the "oldies".
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, May 24 at Rux Funeral Home in Kewanee where military rites will be accorded by the Kewanee Veterans Council. Linnea Gustafson will officiate. A visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home. Memorials may be directed to Zion Lutheran Church or to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
