George William Shaw, 86, of Kewanee, died at 5:50 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 10, 2026, at his home.

He was born on Nov. 2, 1939, in Meade, Kansas, the son of Carl R. and Mary Estella (George) Shaw. Survivors include a brother, Earnest Shaw of Lansing, Ill., his sister, Esther (John) Lindbloom of Kewanee, niece, Holly (Steve) Swearingen and a great nephew, Douglas Swearingen. He was preceded in death by his parents.

George graduated from Burlington High School in Burlington, Wis. and attended Milwaukee Area Technical College in Wisconsin. He served his country in Air Traffic Control with the U.S. Air Force. He worked at Maytag in Galesburg for 23 years.

He was an avid golfer and enjoyed playing at Pinehurst No. 3 in North Carolina, Laurel Greens in Knoxville, Ill. and several other local courses. He also enjoyed hunting quail and pheasants.

Private services will be held. Memorials may be directed to OSF Hospice or to OSF Saint Luke Medical Center. Rux Funeral Home in Kewanee is assisting the family with arrangements.
