Obituary For Donovan James Griffin

A private Celebration of Life to remember Donovan James Griffin was held on June 14 by his family.

Donavan was born April 28, 1954, in Kewanee, Ill. On December 24, 2024, he passed away at home peacefully with his wife at his side.

He served in the U.S. Army from 1971- 1974. He served in Bad Hersfeld, Germany. He was a Sgt. E5 when he finished his tour of duty at Fort Hood, Texas from 1973-74.

He married Judy Trapp on June 17, 1972. They were married for 52 years. He is survived by his wife Judy, his daughter, Sally Jacobs (Mike), his sons, Cory Griffin (Rebecca) and Patrick Griffin, 7 grandchildren - Zachary Jacobs (special friend Shelby), Alex Jacobs, Catie and Sara Griffin, Wyatt Griffin, Tanner Davidson (Addie) and Jacob Flagel (special friend Jayden), 2 great-grandchildren, Gannon and Amber Flagel, his sisters, Pat Foster (Jim), Linda Ennis (Marvin) and Janet Powers, several nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents Clifford and Diane Griffin, a brother Kent Griffin and his wife Jody. Chris Ince and her husband Donald, a brother-in-law Danny (Skip) Powers and in-laws Mearl and Arline Cooley.

He attended Kewanee schools and received his GED through the U.S. Army. He attended Black Hawk Jr. College in Kewanee, where he took several classes. He worked for Kewanee Cable Vision; Kewanee Boiler Corporation and he retired from Bo/Gar Enterprises where he suffered a near fatal heart attack at the age of 49.

Donovan was an avid Green Bay Packers fan; he loved to do woodworking and remodeling his house. He was getting into building HO model trains, the sad thing about this hobby is it lays in the basement of his house unfinished never to be worked on again.

He truly loved his family and his little dog Luna. His eulogy was given by his brother-in-law, Marvin Ennis. Donovan was cremated and will be laid to rest at a later date.
