Obituary For Donald L. Hendrick

Kewanee – Donald L. Hendrick, 80, of Kewanee, formerly of Toulon, passed away at 9:45 p.m. Monday, April 15, 2024, at his home, surrounded by his loving family. Born in Wyoming, IL, on May 5, 1943, the son of Robert and Anna Mae (McRell) Hendrick. On August 26, 1962, he married Cheryl Clark at Elmira Presbyterian Church; she survives.

Also surviving are two children, Rich (Michele) Hendrick and Melissa Rossell, all of Kewanee; five grandchildren, Derek (Chelsea) Hendrick, Grace Hendrick, Brett (Lexus) Rossell, Jacob Rossell, and Paige Rossell; four great grandchildren, Tannen, Creighton, Cameron, and Charlotte; a brother, Gene (Connie) Hendrick; and a sister, Rosie (Al) Goins. He was preceded in death by his parents; a grandson, Drew Hendrick; and a great granddaughter, Rorie Mae Hendrick.

Don worked as an industrial engineer for Compaction America, formerly Hyster, for 42 years. He enjoyed woodworking, fishing, car rides in the country, doing yardwork, and being involved with all the kids’ activities. He was a member of First United Methodist Church in Kewanee, where he served on many boards and committees.

His funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. Monday, April 22, 2024, at First United Methodist Church in Kewanee. Pastor Haley Hausman will officiate. Burial will take place in Toulon Cemetery at a later date. Haskell Funeral and Cremation Services in Wyoming is assisting the family with arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Rorie Mae Foundation (www.theroriemaefoundation.org), or to First United Methodist Church in Kewanee for their lighting project. Condolences for Don’s family may be left on his tribute wall at www.haskellfuneral.com.
