Obituary For David E. Holtschult

KEWANEE – David E. Holtschult, 72, of Kewanee, died at 4:43 p.m., Sunday, September 21, 2025, at his home.

He was born on January 2, 1953, in Kewanee, the son of David T. and Betty J. (Krause) Holtschult. He married Gail Gish on July 28, 1973. Survivors include his wife of Kewanee, his two sons, Aaron (Heather) Holtschult and Dan (Jennifer) Holtschult, both of Kewanee, a brother, Bob Holtschult of Kewanee, six grandchildren; Ashley, Collin, Austin, Hailey, Brenden and Madison and three great grandchildren; Liam, Kasen and Avery. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Dennis and Keith and sister, Jane Wisniewski.

David graduated from Kewanee High School in 1971. He worked as a materials handler at Great Dane in Kewanee for 32 years until his retirement. He was of the Catholic faith, and he enjoyed fishing, hunting and tractor, especially his Oliver Tractor. He loved his family and cherished the time spent with his grandchildren.

A visitation will be held from 4:00-6:00 p.m., Thursday, September 25 at Rux Funeral Home in Kewanee. A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, September 26 at the funeral home with Pastor Andrew Christman officiating. Inurnment will follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the Parkinson’s Foundation.
