Obituary For Charles D. "Charlie" Jacobs

KEWANEE – Charles D. “Charlie” Jacobs, 81, of Kewanee, died at 12:18 p.m., Tuesday, April 1, 2025 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria surrounded by his loving family.

He was born on January 2, 1944 in Scottsboro, AL, the son of John Clifford “Jake” and Beulah Mae (Christa) Jacobs. He married Julia Brazee on May 15, 1965 in Kewanee and she preceded him in death on November 9, 2024. Survivors include his two sons, David (Paula) Jacobs and Adam Jacobs, both of Kewanee, his daughter, Laura (Jeff) Martin of Kewanee, two brothers; Cal Jacobs of Boone, IA and Steve (Louann) Jacobs of Mineral, two sisters, Sandra Kay Osborne of Sylacauga, AL and Virginia Carrol (John) Kriticos of Houston, TX, five grandchildren; Haley (Josh) Verscha, Jacob (Sara) Paxton and Alyssa, Austin and Mylee Jacobs and six great grandchildren; Lexi, Jalynn, Ace, Wyatt, Ava and Aybree. He was also preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Steven Lee Jacobs.

Charlie was a union laborer and business manager for Laborers Local 852. He enjoyed fishing, watching old westerns and playing cards. He loved his family and valued the time spent with his family and friends. He cared for his greatest catch, his wife up until her recent passing.

Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, April 19 at Evergreen Memorial Gardens in rural Kewanee. A Celebration of Life will follow the services from 1:00-5:00 p.m. on Saturday at the Kewanee Elks Lodge. The honorary pallbearers are David Jacobs, Adam Jacobs, Jacob Paxton, Austin Jacobs, Ace Jacobs and Wyatt Paxton. Rux Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

    We have loved uncle Charlie our whole life. As a young lady he sand never promised u a rose garden to me. It made me laugh as it was a sweet joke between him and I . He will be missed as he was a amazing stand up man that cared for his family and friends fiercely.

    I have known Charlie since I was a young boy. My dad used to take me to visit. Such a gentle soul. He loved his family so much. He will be missed! Rest easy Charlie.
