Obituary For Burl "Boad" Williams
FLORISSANT MO - Burl “Boad” Williams, 96, of Florissant MO, formerly of Kewanee IL, passed away in his home on February 16, 2025.
Born in Buda IL., on March 16, 1928, he was the son of Lewis and Martha (Brooks) Williams. He married Leota Evelyn English on September 9, 1950. She survives.
Other surviving family members are five children, Cathy Euchaski of Vero Beach FL, Steve Williams of Ava MO, June (Glen) Dana of Kewanee IL, Stan Williams (Anna Pratt) of Florissant MO, and Randy Williams (Stephen Wu) of San Francisco CA; thirteen grandchildren; twenty great grandchildren; and four great-great grandchildren. Also surviving are siblings, Tony Williams of Buda IL, Linda Gale of Woodburn OR, Sharon Joliff of Morton IL, and Maybeth Cade of Princeton IL.
Boad was preceded in death by his parents; ten siblings, Jay Williams, Floyd Williams, Dwayne “Shine” Williams, Keith Williams, Frances Monroe, Helena Russelburg, Bernice Russelburg, Mildred Thumma, and infant brothers, Eugene and Brooks Williams; a son-in-law, Jeff Euchaski, a daughter-in-law, Lynn (Sweat) Williams, and a grandson, Kayn Roesner Williams.
Boad left his childhood home in Buda, IL., at the young age of 17 to join the Navy and serve in WWII. He later joined the Army and the National Guard and served in the Korean War. He made his home with his wife and children in Kewanee IL for many years. A born salesman, Boad was a business owner and used car salesman who sold many a car to local friends and neighbors. He was especially noted for his playful sense of humor -- If he told a joke once, he told it a thousand times, often to the family’s groans and giggles. He spent his final years in Florissant MO with his wife, Evelyn, and his son and daughter-in-law, Stan and Anna, watching NASCAR races until the end.
The Williams family is planning a semi-private burial on Saturday, May 24, at the Neponset Township Cemetery at 11 a.m. followed by a Celebration of Life for Boad at 102 Maple St. in Neponset IL. immediately following. A light lunch will be served. The family is asking friends and family to join them and share their best “Boad stories."
The family wishes to extend a heartfelt thanks to the Veterans Administration staff for providing Boad with necessary medication, medical supplies/equipment and support. Memorial contributions can be made to the Veterans of Foreign Wars at www.vfw.org.
