Obituary For Alfred Spaulding Wentworth III

Alfred Spaulding Wentworth III was born on June 11, 1951, at McGhoe Hospital in Pittsburgh, PA. He passed away on May 3, 2025, in Walnut, IL.

He married Michele Pillen on November 30, 1985, at the First Presbyterian Church in Kewanee. Survivors include his wife of Kewanee, son, Mason (Kathleen), daughter, Rachael and his two grandchildren, Gideon and Elora. He is also survived by his sister, Constance (David) Longo.

Al was an alumnus of Hinsdale Township High School Central, class of 1969 and Monmouth College, class of 1973. In his youth, Al was active in the Explorer Scouts, was a member of the Westminster Fellowship Group and participated in his high school wrestling program and swim team.

Al worked as a master carpenter for 45 years and became a member of the Carpenter’s Union. He began his career in Bishop Hill as a restoration carpenter and since then spent years working in the surrounding communities.

He was a dedicated family man who adored his children and grandchildren. He was a dedicated and loyal friend who had a passion for gardening, music and spending time with family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Joan Wentworth and Alfred Spaulding Wentworth Jr.

A memorial service will be held at 12:00 p.m., Saturday, May 17 at Rux Funeral Home in Kewanee with Pastor Art Blegen officiating. A visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the services at the funeral home. Memorials may be directed to the First Presbyterian Church in Kewanee or to the Henry County Humane Society-Kewanee Chapter.
