The Kewanee Police Department announced the graduation of Kewanee Police Lt. Justin Reed from the Northwestern School of Police Staff & Command in a statement released over the weekend.
The achievement, the release said, is noteworthy and a testament to Reed’s dedication to advancing his leadership and management skills and will prepare him for senior command positions with law enforcement.
Reed joined the KPD in July of 2007 and “has demonstrated an exceptional commitment to public safety throughout his career,” the release stated. Over those years, Reed has served in various capacities for the department including patrol, the Street Crimes Unit, and the Black Hawk Area Task Force.
“His diverse experience has provided him with a well-rounded perspective on the challenges faced by law enforcement professionals,” the press release continued. Reed also holds a bachelor’s degree from Western Illinois University, further emphasizing his dedication to academic excellence in the field.
The press release highlights Reed’s multiple achievements on the Kewanee force including his promotion to the position of patrol sergeant in 2016 and his more recent promotion in May of this year to the rank of lieutenant.
The KPD congratulated Reed and expressed confidence in his continued success as a key leader within the law enforcement community, calling the completion of the prestigious Northwestern SPSC yet another significant milestone in Reed’s career.
“We extend our heartfelt congratulations to Lt. Justin Reed on this remarkable achievement,” said Kewanee Police Chief Stephen Kijanowski. “Lt. Reed’s journey from patrol officer to lieutenant is a testament to his dedication, hard work, and leadership qualities. We are proud to have him as a member of the City of Kewanee family.”
