Lakeshore Recycling Systems (LRS) will be delivering recycling carts to residents across the city of Kewanee this week.
A news release issued Monday by the city said this delivery marks the final step in preparation for the commencement of curbside sanitation services, set to begin next week.
Each recycling cart will include important information secured inside the lid, detailing the resident’s designated collection day and the list of acceptable recyclable materials.
“Please review this information carefully to ensure proper recycling practices,” the release said.
All recyclables should be placed loosely in the cart and not bagged, according to the release. Bagged recyclables cannot be processed properly and may lead to contamination of the recycling stream.
“LRS is committed to providing the city of Kewanee with efficient, reliable, and environmentally responsible sanitation services,” the release said. “We thank all residents in advance for their cooperation and commitment to sustainable practices.”
