Nicholas Mitro, 37, of Kewanee was cited for violating the Firearms Child Protection Act and endangering the life or health of a child following an investigation into the shooting incident that occurred in the 400 block of Rice Street on Sunday, August 13.

The Kewanee Police Department reported that a 6-year-old child was taken to the hospital for a gunshot wound to the left hand and stated that the initial investigation pointed to the child having access to a handgun in their residence.
