The deadline for the Kewanee Hog Days parade is one week away. Mark Mikenas, chamber executive director, is reminding residents and organizations that only a handful of days are left to get your entries in for a coveted spot.

“We are especially looking for floats and entries that are unique and fun. In order for us to line up the parade and get the information out to the entries in a timely manner, we must have all entry forms in by 5 pm Monday, Aug. 21,” he said.

Mikenas said that even if a group doesn’t have all of the entry details worked out, reserving a space is the best way to ensure they get a spot in the parade.

“We have many bands, musical entries signed up, so we need entries to place in between those units,” he said.

The ideal way to sign up for entries is online at https://www.kewanee-il.com/parade.php

This year’s Kewanee Hog Days theme is “Hog Days: The Feeling Never Gets Old,” and entries are encouraged to utilize this theme.
For the 47th year, the Ambassador’s Club of Kewanee is taking on the duties of the parade for the Hog Capital Festival Committee. The deadline for entries will close at the end of business day on Monday, Aug. 21. This year’s parade will kick off at 2 pm sharp, rain or shine, on Saturday, Sept. 2.

Awards and cash prizes will be given to winners in several categories. Questions or possible suggestions can be directed to Mark Mikenas at the KCOC office.
