The new owners of Happy Joe’s in Kewanee announced last month that they planned to open the newly-remodeled restaurant on Dec. 16.
They met that goal, announcing on social media that there will be a grand opening on Monday.
Doors will open at 8 a.m. Monday.
The restaurant will open over the weekend for trial runs for some invited guests with the public invited in on Monday.
Training for the new employees at the restaurant has been going on for a couple of weeks.
Franchisees Eric Ellenberger and Jamie O’Neill told The Kewanee Voice last month that the restaurant’s interior has been redone, and diners will find new decor and facilities.
There will also be new menu items, such as burgers and melts; extended hours and a larger selection of food items for the buffet; a digital menu system; and new machines in the game room.
The restaurant had closed its doors last May.
