Kewanee’s Great Dane production line has been shut down intermittently this week reportedly due to a water main break on Kentville Road. A water main that supplied the plant with water broke along Kentville on Friday around 7:30 p.m.
Plant workers were called off of shifts on Monday and sources told The Kewanee Voice that the plant manager called off workers for second shift on Tuesday and third shift into Wednesday.
Sources also told The Kewanee Voice that lack of running water and wash stations were a problem and one source denied the rumor that the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) had shut down the plant, stating that the decision was made by plant management.
There is no word on how long production will be shut down, and efforts made to contact Great Dane early Tuesday afternoon were unsuccessful and calls went to voicemail.
