The fourth annual Neponset Park Improvement Golf Outing fundraiser will be held on Saturday, Sept. 21, at Hidden Lake Country Club, located in rural Sheffield.

There is plenty of time to get a foursome together to come out and play golf while supporting improvements in the Neponset community.

The tournament will begin at 8 a.m. with a shotgun start. The cost is $220 per four-person team ($55 per person), which covers golf fees, a cart and lunch. The tournament will follow a preferred-ball format.

Teams may pre-register by contacting Al Corwin at (815) 303-0200, or they may register the morning of the tournament.

Additionally, golfers may purchase four mulligans for $10; one person max, and two drive-extending throws per team may be purchased for $10. There will also be 50/50 raffles, several fun activities on a few holes, and door prizes.

If any individual or business is interested in sponsoring a hole for $50 per hole, or if you have any questions about the tournament, please contact Al Corwin at the number listed above, or Mandy Donovan at (309) 502-9050.

Lunch is provided for team members at Hidden Lake immediately after the tournament, which includes a sandwich, chips, and water.

The Neponset Park Improvement Committee formed in 2019 to begin planning and fundraising for improvements to Scott Park, including a veterans’ memorial, a park pavilion for picnic tables, and outdoor restroom facilities, as well as other park projects.

Members of the committee include Dave Mueller, Jon Pickering, Mandy Donovan, Gail Pickering, Al Corwin and Marty Golby.

The veterans memorial was completed in May, 2021, and it was dedicated on Memorial Day of 2021.

Fundraising is ongoing for the park pavilion and restrooms, both to be located south of the Neponset Community Building. The community building and the adjacent Scott Park are popular, especially in the summer months when many families are hosting their family gatherings and reunions.
