Police investigated a strange smell in the 00 block of SW 4th Street.
Police responded to a fraud/internet scam complaint in the 200 block of SE 4th Street.
Police responded to a 9-1-1 hang-up call in the 600 block of SE 2nd Street. It was determined to be a misdial.
Police responded to a suspicious person complaint in the 1000 block of SE 2nd Street. The officer was not able to locate the subject.
Police responded to a theft complaint in the 200 block of NW 7th Avenue.
Police responded to a complaint involving a depressed juvenile trying to harm himself at the Galva Park District.
Oct. 9:
Police assisted the ambulance staff with a medical emergency on Exchange Street.
Police met with FEMA officials to discuss storm damage around town from July 2024.
Police conducted a welfare check on a subject who called an employer and sounded depressed at a residence on SE 4th Street. The officer spoke to the subject, who advised he was fine.
Police met with a complainant at the Galva Police Department about a scam she fell victim to in reference to booking a flight with American Airlines.
Police assisted Henry County officers with a physical altercation between students on a Galva school bus on County Highway 5 at 650 North.
Police responded to a suspicious vehicle/occupant complaint in Wiley Park. The subject was just enjoying the weather and wasn’t doing anything illegal.
Police and the ambulance responded to a report of a choking victim in the 300 block of NW 4th Avenue. The item was dislodged before help arrived.
Alan Gardiner-Atkinson, 69, Galva, was ticketed for operating a vehicle when registration was suspended for mandatory insurance and operating an uninsured vehicle as the result of a traffic stop in the 200 block of SW 3rd Street. He was released with a required court date.
Police were notified about a vehicle repossession that was taking place at Sentry Estates. The vehicle was removed without incident.
Oct. 10:
Police responded to a two-vehicle accident with damage only in the 300 block of Main Street. The drivers exchanged insurance info after minor damage was located.
Police assisted a citizen in the 700 block of NW 5th Avenue.
Police responded to a loose dog complaint in the 1100 block of NW 5th Avenue. The dog was impounded and later found to belong to a subject from rural Bishop Hill. The animal was returned to its owner.
Police assisted Henry County officers with suicide by handgun at a rural address several miles east of town.
Oct. 11:
Police responded to a domestic disturbance in the 300 block of Front Street.
Police responded to a theft complaint of items from a garage sale in the 00 block of NE 9th Street.
Police responded to a loose dog complaint in the 500 block of West Division Street. The officer was not able to locate the animal.
Police and the fire department responded to a grass fire in the 600 block of SE Industrial Avenue.
Police responded to a traffic complaint sent from Stark County at the south edge of town. The officer did not locate the suspect vehicle.
Police responded to a complaint involving juveniles throwing rocks at houses in the 200 block of NE 2nd Street. The officer was not able to locate them.
Police responded to a domestic disturbance in a passing vehicle that pulled into the Galva Cemetery. Knox County was advised of the complaint.
Police responded to a report of a possible intoxicated driver leaving Galva in the 1200 block of SE 2nd Street. The officer, and a Henry County deputy, were unable to locate the driver.
Police responded to an activated burglar alarm in the 00 block of SW 2nd Street. It was determined to be a false alarm.
Oct. 12:
Police spoke to a subject by telephone about a Medicare scam she received by telephone.
Police responded to a complaint of harassment by phone and social media in the 300 block of Front Street.
Police responded to a theft complaint in the 00 block of SW 4th Street.
Police responded to a juvenile complaint about a group of teenagers kicking and hitting doors and then running away in the 00 block of NW 5th Street. The officer was not able to locate them.
Oct. 13:
Police met with a subject requesting a civil standby to retrieve property in the 100 block of SW 7th Street.
Police responded to a criminal damage to property complaint involving broken windows in the 200 block of NE 1st Street.
Police responded to a neighbor dispute in the 700 block of NW 1st Avenue.
Police responded to a complaint about a group of juveniles who ran behind the complainant’s house and appeared to be hiding in the 100 block of NE 6th Avenue. The officer was unable to locate anyone.
Police responded to a complaint about a group of juveniles knocking on doors and then running off in the 500 block of North Center Avenue. The officer was not able to locate anyone.
Police responded to a 9-1-1 open line complaint in the 700 block of NW 1st Avenue. It was determined to be a misdial.
Courtney Turner, 31, Galva, was issued an administrative warning ticket (AWT) for allowing a dog to bark after police responded to a barking dog complaint in the 400 block of NW 2nd Avenue.
Brian Dennis, 19, Altona, was issued a citation for speeding in the 1000 block of SW 2nd Street.
A 17-year-old Galva juvenile was issued a citation for speeding in the 1300 block of SE 2nd Street.
