Galva police report for Oct. 28-Nov. 3

Oct. 28:

Police responded to a reckless driving complaint in the 600 block of NW 4th Street. The officer was not able to locate the suspect vehicle.

Police responded to a complaint involving tree limbs hanging on utility wires in the 800 block of SE 1st Street.

Michael Storm, 44, Lacon, was issued a citation for operating an uninsured vehicle in the 1300 block of SE 2nd Street.

Oct. 29:

Police responded to a loose dog complaint in the 500 block of SE 6th Avenue. The owner was able to locate the animal and take it home.

Leah Middleton, 24, Galesburg, was cited for operating a vehicle when registration was suspended for mandatory insurance violation following a traffic stop in the 900 block of SE 2nd St. Middleton was released with a required court date.

While patrolling, police noticed a crossing arm malfunction at the Chester Street railroad crossing. BNSF was contacted for repairs.

Alexis Haga, 26, Galva, was cited for operating a vehicle when registration was suspended for mandatory insurance following a traffic stop in the 100 block of NE 1st Street. Haga was released with a required court date.

Police and the fire departments responded to a fully engulfed ATV that had caught fire and spread into a picked bean field on Bonham Road and 1850 East.

Police assisted a motorist with a flat tire in the 00 block of SE 4th Street.

Audri Roberts, 21, Kewanee, was cited for operating a vehicle when registration was suspended for mandatory insurance following a traffic stop in the 900 block of SE 2nd Street. Roberts was released with a required court date.

Police collected an Illinois driver’s license found in the 00 block of SW 2nd Street. The license was determined to be suspended and was mailed back to the Illinois Secretary of State’s Office.

Police responded to a report of utility wires laying on tree limbs in the 800 block of SE 2nd Street. Mediacom was notified for repairs.

Damon Koga, 26, Galva, was issued a citation for having expired registration in the 100 block of East Division Street.

Oct. 30:

Police responded to an activated medical pendant alarm at a residence on NW 7th Avenue. It was determined to be a false alarm.

Police responded to a 9-1-1 open line call that plotted in the 800 block of SW 4th Street. The officer responding saw that a large tree had fallen across the roadway. The Galva Street Department was able to remove it with chainsaws and a backhoe.

Police responded to a vehicle with a possible stolen license plate in the 1000 block of SE 2nd Street. After investigation, it was determined to be a stolen front plate, and this vehicle was missing the front plate. The driver was released with no charges.

Bailey Yelm, 33, Galva, was cited for operating a vehicle when registration was suspended for mandatory insurance following a traffic stop in the 100 block of Market Street. Yelm was released with a required court date.

Police responded to an out-of-control juvenile acting out and a parent trying to restrain them in Wiley Park. The juvenile was taken by ambulance for treatment.

Oct. 31:

Police responded to a complaint of criminal damage to property concerning a cell phone being broken in the 500 block of SW 3rd Avenue.

Police responded to a crossing arm malfunction at the Chester Street railroad crossing. BNSF was contacted for repairs.

Police responded to a reckless driving complaint at the east edge of town. The officer located the suspect vehicle but did not observe any violations.

Nov. 1:

Police assisted a citizen in the 200 block of SE 1st Street.

Police responded to a 9-1-1 hang-up complaint in Wiley Park. It was determined to be a pocket dial.

Police responded to a civil complaint involving non-payment for work that was performed in the 1000 block of SW 2nd Street.

Police responded to a loose dog complaint in the 100 block of SW 9th Avenue. The officer was not able to locate the animal.

Police responded to a large burn pile on Route 34 near Bishop Hill Road. It was a controlled burn that had not been called in.

Police responded to a loose dog complaint in Wiley Park. The animal was impounded and later released to its owner.

Police responded to a suspicious activity complaint in the 400 block of NW 1st Street.

Nov. 2:

Police responded to a physical altercation in the 100 block of SE 6th Avenue. This case is under review.

Bailey Yelm, 33, Galva was cited for operating a vehicle when registration was suspended for mandatory insurance following a traffic stop in the 200 block of Front Street. Yelm was released with a required court date.

Police responded to a 9-1-1 open line complaint in the 100 block of NW 5th Street. It was determined to be a misdial.

Police responded to a request for help from a citizen whose cat had climbed a tree and appeared stuck in Sentry Estates. The officer was able to retrieve the cat.

Police responded to a complaint about an open door at an abandoned house in the 300 block of SE 3rd Avenue.

Nov. 3:

Police responded to a landlord/tenant dispute in the 400 block of North Center Avenue.

Police responded to a verbal domestic dispute in the 100 block of SE 6th Avenue.

Police responded to a 9-1-1 hang-up complaint in the 400 block of NE 9th Street. The officer was not able to locate anyone needing assistance.
