Galva police report for Oct. 14-20

Oct. 14:

Police assisted a resident in looking for her cat in the 00 block of SW 4th Street. The cat was later found unharmed in a drawer within the apartment.

Police met with a resident at the Galva Police Department to take a report of a sexual assault that took place several weeks back. This case is under investigation.

Police spoke to a resident by phone about a telephone scam that they fell victim to regarding a Facebook account.

Police issued an ordinance warning for an unlicensed vehicle in the 1000 block of SW 2nd Street.

Oct. 15:

Police spoke to a registered sex offender by telephone about questions that had arisen.

Police witnessed a forensic interview of a sexual assault victim at the Braveheart Children’s Advocacy Center in Cambridge.

Police located a downed utility wire across the roadway in the 1000 block of North Center Avenue while patrolling. It was determined to be a phone wire and Frontier was contacted for repairs.

James Moore, 40, Altona, was issued a citation for having expired registration in the 600 block of South Center Avenue.

Oct. 16:

Police responded to a suspicious person complaint in the 300-400 block of SW 3rd Street. It was determined to be a resident having a mental health crisis.

Police conducted a low-speed vehicle inspection in the 500 block of West Division Street.

Police responded to an unknown damage complaint involving the swing set having a broken part of its frame in Washington Park.

Police responded to a motorist who hit a cat with their vehicle at the west edge of town. The officer was not able to locate the animal.

Oct. 17:

Police responded to a wild animal complaint involving skunks in the 400 block of SE 6th Street.

William Self, 64, Galva, was arrested on two Henry County warrants for driving while license revoked and criminal trespass to state-supported property after police responded to a loose dog complaint in the 200 block of NW 7th Avenue. Self was unable to post bond and was transported to the Henry County Jail.

Police responded to a traffic complaint at the east edge of town. The officer was not able to locate the suspect vehicle.

Oct. 18:

Police conducted a welfare check at a residence on SW 3rd Avenue. The residents were out of town and were fine.

Dustin Bowman, 43, Kewanee, was arrested on two Henry County warrants for failing to appear on traffic charges after police went to return a cell phone in the 00 block of SW 4th Street.
Bowman was taken to the Henry Co Jail.

Police responded to a telephone scam report in the 00 block of NW 4th Street.

Police responded to a reckless driving complaint at the east edge of town. Henry County was able to locate the vehicle and ultimately arrested the driver on a warrant.

Police responded to a loose dog complaint in the 1000 block of SW 2nd Street. The officer was not able to locate the animal.

Police were flagged down about a stop sign that was destroyed and lying down east of town along Route 34. IDOT was notified and put up a temporary sign.

Oct. 19:

Police removed an unwanted patron in the 300 block of Front Street.

Leah Middleton, 24, Galesburg, was cited for operating a vehicle when registration was suspended for mandatory insurance following a traffic stop in the 1000 block of SE 2nd Street. Middleton was released with a required court date.

Bryce Shores, 27, Galva, was cited for operating a vehicle when registration was suspended for mandatory insurance and operating an uninsured vehicle following a traffic stop in the 900 block of SE 2nd Street. Shores was released with a required court date.

Police responded to a crossing arm malfunction at the Exchange Street railroad tracks. BNSF was contacted for repairs.

Dandre Evans, 25, Wataga, was arrested for not having a valid driver’s license and speeding 54 in a 30mph zone following a traffic stop in the 1000 block of North Center Avenue. Evans was released with a required court date.

Police responded to a domestic disturbance in the 300 block of SW 4th Street.

Police met with a subject about a lost cell phone in the 1000 block of SE 2nd Street. The phone was located and returned to the owner.

Police conducted a welfare check at a residence on SW 4th Street. The subject was fine.

Robert Senkbeil, 40, Geneseo, was issued a citation for speeding in the 1000 block of North Center Avenue.

Oct: 20:

Edward Mensen, 58, Galva, was cited for operating a vehicle when registration was suspended for mandatory insurance following a traffic stop in the 600 block of SE 2nd Street. Mensen was released with a required court date.

Orina Hadnott, 29, Galesburg, was cited for operating a vehicle when registration was suspended for mandatory insurance and operating an uninsured vehicle following a traffic stop in the 1100 block of SE 2nd Street. Hadnott was released with a required court date.

Police responded to a landlord/tenant dispute in the 300 block of SE 3rd Avenue.

Madeline Griffin, 24, Naperville, was issued a citation for speeding in the 800 block of North Center Avenue.
