Galva police report for Nov. 4-10

Nov. 4:

Police responded to a 9-1-1 open line complaint in the 500 block of SE 4th Street. It was determined to be an accidental misdial.

Police met with a resident at the Galva Police Department to gather further information on a battery complaint reported this past weekend.

Police attempted to locate a subject on NW 9th Street who had made suicidal and homicidal comments at a medical office in Kewanee. Officers were not able to locate the subject.

Police responded to a complaint involving a violation of pretrial conditions in the 200 block of SW 6th Street. A report was forwarded to the State’s Attorney Office for consideration of charges.

Police responded to an activated burglar alarm in the 900 block of West Division Street. It was determined to be a false alarm.

Nicole Piper, 37, Galva, was cited for operating a vehicle when registration was suspended for mandatory insurance and operating an uninsured vehicle after a traffic stop in the 1200 block of NW 3rd Avenue. She was released with a required court date.

Savannah Kulavic, 28, Rantoul, was cited for operating a vehicle when registration was suspended for mandatory insurance after a traffic stop in the 1200 block of NW 6th Avenue. She was released with a required court date.

Police conducted a welfare check at a residence on SE 4th Street. The subject was fine.

Anabelle Twomey, 23, Galva, was issued a citation for improper lane usage after police responded to a report of a reckless driver at the east edge of town.

Police responded to a reckless driving complaint in the 1100 block of SE 2nd Street. The suspect vehicle was not located.

Nov. 5:

Police responded to a possible two-vehicle accident on Route 34 several miles east of town. The accident was later located north of Kewanee.

Police responded to an aggravated battery complaint in the 200 block of NE 4th Avenue.

Michael Anderson, 46, Valparaiso, Ind., was issued a citation for speeding in the 1000 block of North Center Avenue.

Nov. 6:

Police responded to a possible carbon monoxide alarm in the 700 block of NW 5th Avenue.

Police checked for a bicyclist riding between Galva and Kewanee in the darkness. The subject was not located.

Nov. 7:

Police responded to the Chester Street railroad crossing because construction workers were present without a BNSF permit.

Police assisted Henry County Sheriff’s Department with a two-vehicle accident with damage only on Route 34 near Midland Road.

Police responded to a report of juveniles who were standing very close to the railroad tracks as a train approached the NE 2nd Street railroad crossing. The train engineer reportedly had to apply the emergency brakes and ultimately blocked all the Galva crossings for an extended time.

Nov. 8:

Police responded to a report of a subject standing on the Exchange Street railroad tracks. The officer was not able to locate the subject.

Police responded to a report of an obstruction in the roadway in the 300 block of NE 5th Street. The item was removed.

Police conducted a welfare check at a residence on SE 7th Avenue. The subject was fine.

Police responded to a complaint of a prowler in the 100 block of NE 4th Street. The officer was not able to locate anyone.

Nov. 9:

Police responded to a complaint involving the stop sign being knocked down by an unknown vehicle at the intersection of Industrial Avenue and SE 2nd Street. IDOT was notified and brought a temporary sign.

Police responded to a complaint involving a group of juveniles standing in the roadway to the 100 block of NW 3rd Avenue. They had departed prior to the officer’s arrival.

Nov. 10:

Police were notified that all Galva railroad crossings were blocked. The officer checked and found at least one was open for traffic.

Police assisted a citizen in the 300 block of SW 3rd Street.
