Galva police report for May 5-11

May 5:

An officer responded to a request to remove an unwanted subject in the 00 block of SW 4th Street that was causing a disturbance. The subject appeared to be suffering from a mental health crisis.

Police officer assisted a citizen in the 700 block of NW 4th Street. The person appeared to be suffering from a mental health crisis.

A container full of hypodermic needles was reported in the 700 block of SE 2nd Street. Police collected the needles and disposed of them.

A disturbance was reported in the 00 block of SW 4th Street. The subject appeared to be suffering from a mental health crisis.

An officer was dispatched several more times to the 700 block of NW 4th Street to assist the subject that appeared to be suffering from a mental health crisis.

Police conducted a welfare check in the 00 block of SW 4th Street. The subject was located and suffering from a mental health crisis.

An officer assisted Henry County Sheriff’s Department with a trespassing complaint northwest of town.

May 6:

An officer responded to a request to assist a citizen in the 700 block of NW 4th Street. The subject appeared to be suffering from a mental health crisis.

A cat bite complaint was made in the 800 block of NW 7th Avenue. A resident received a minor bite wound from their own cat.

A runaway juvenile complaint was made in the 200 block of NW 7th Avenue. An officer located the youth near the park district and returned them home to a guardian.

May 7:

Officer spoke to a subject by telephone about crimes they were maybe involved in in the early 1980’s in the Galva area. The subject appeared to be suffering from mental health issues.

Officer was dispatched to the 300 block of East Division Street for a loose dog complaint. The dog was captured and returned to its owner.

Officer was dispatched to the 200 block of SE 5th Ave to recover a debit card that had been found. It was returned to its owner.

Officer assisted Knox County with delivering a message to a Galva resident.

Officer was dispatched to the 300 block of SE 2nd Street for a 9-1-1 open line call. It was determined to be a pocket dial.

Officer was dispatched to the 00 block of SW 4th Street for a loose animal complaint. This complaint was unfounded.

Officer was dispatched to a residence on NE 8th Street for a welfare check involving a child custody dispute.

May 8:

Officer was dispatched to the 100 block of SE 6th Ave for a civil property dispute.

Officer was dispatched to the 200 block of NW 4th Street for a complaint of juveniles throwing unknown items from an unknown vehicle. Officer was not able to locate the subjects.

Officer spoke to a resident at the Galva Police Department in reference to civil questions involving an order of protection.

May 9:

Officer was dispatched to assist the ambulance with a medical emergency in the 00 block of Burlington Road.

Officer was dispatched to the Galva-Atkinson blacktop just north of town to assist a motorist that had a flat tire.

Officer was dispatched to the 100 block of SW 4th Street for a physical disturbance. This case remains under investigation.

Officer was dispatched to the 300 block of SW 3rd Street for a theft complaint.

Officer was dispatched to the 800 block of SE 1st Street for a 9-1-1 hang up call. It was determined to be a misdial.

Officer was dispatched to the 400 block of SW 6th Ave for a wild animal complaint involving a raccoon stuck under a vehicle.

Jamie Howard, 36, Galva, was arrested for domestic battery after an officer responded to a physical domestic disturbance in the 400 block of SW 4th Ave. She was taken to the Henry County Jail.

Officer was dispatched to the 600 block of NW 7th Ave to assist the Galva Fire Department with a possible structure fire.

May 10:

Officer was dispatched to Route 34 just west of town for a suspicious person that appeared to have blood on them. Officer located a subject that was involved in a serious motorcycle accident further west of town. Stark County Medic and Life Flight helicopter were paged to assist.

Officer was dispatched to the intersection of NW 8th Ave and NW 5th Street for a possible crash detection alert. Officer determined it was a false alarm.

Christina Williams, 47, Altona, was cited for operating a vehicle when registration is suspended for mandatory insurance and operating an uninsured vehicle following a traffic stop in the 600 block of South Center Avenue. She was released with a required court date.

Officer was dispatched to the 00 block of SW 4th Street for a suspicious smell complaint. This complaint was unfounded.

Officer issued a warning after being dispatched to the east edge of town for a reckless driving complaint. Officer located the suspect motorcycle.

Officer was dispatched to a residence on SW 9th Ave for a trespassing/removal of unwanted subject complaint. The subject was served a written notice.

May 11:

Officer was dispatched to the NE 6th Ave railroad crossing for a crossing arm malfunction. BNSF was contacted for repairs.

Officer was dispatched to the 100 block of NE 1st Street for a loose dog complaint. Dogs were back inside the resident’s home upon the officer’s arrival.

Officer was dispatched to the 400 block of SW 4th Ave for a civil standby to retrieve property.

Officer was dispatched to the 300 block of Front Street for a child custody dispute.

Officer was dispatched to the 800 block of NE 3rd Ave for a loud music complaint.

Daniel Bosi, 44, Peru, was issued a citation for speeding in the 1000 block of SE 2nd Street.
